Special sessions

Special sessions may bring together a coherent set of talks, demonstrations, or discussions around a timely multimedia theme. Proposals should explain the motivation, community value, intended format, and confirmed or invited contributors once the call is open.

Illustrative prior themes

The following are examples of the kinds of focused themes that have appeared in prior MMAsia planning materials, including the 2026 edition. They are reference examples only and are not confirmed MMAsia 2027 sessions: trustworthy multimodal AI; multimedia for health and wellbeing; immersive and extended reality; efficient edge multimedia systems; multimedia security and provenance; social and cultural multimedia; multimodal agents and interaction; multimedia for climate and sustainability; and datasets, benchmarks, and reproducibility.

No 2026 organizer, contact, date, venue, or acceptance decision is carried forward to 2027.
